Waking Life (2001)

Rating: 3½/5

The film is philosophical and not quite like anything I have seen before; however, it is not as deep as it might seem at first. There is not much of an ordinary plot; there is a main character, but the film consists of sequences that address a number of existential or fundamental questions through discussions or monologues. The use of rotoscoping (animating over live-action footage) gives the film a stylish look. With its thought-provoking but not exactly revolutionary ideas and remarkable visuals, Waking Life is a movie for the mind and eyes.
