Down in the Valley (2005)

The tension builds slowly but surely and the cinematography is scenic in this well-acted (Edward Norton, Evan Rachel Wood, David Morse, Rory Culkin), character-driven drama thriller, but the slow pacing does not work in the film's favor and the story elements do not coalesce into a coherent whole. Though it is uneven and unsatisfying, with an out-of-place last scene, Down in the Valley is still worth seeing.
