Heading South (2005)

Rating: 4/5

Sumptuously shot, this nuanced movie approaches the subject of female sex tourism by focusing on three women and their young Haitian lovers. The characters are believable and sufficiently three-dimensional thanks to the great cast performances, Charlotte Rampling being especially noteworthy. Heading South never overreaches: it does not attempt to preach a message or provide any answers pertaining to its subject matter.

Original title: Vers le sud; Swedish title: Mot södern.
