Michael Clayton (2007)

Rating: 4½/5

This intelligent and well-made movie is more of a character-driven drama with thriller elements than an outright thriller. The acting is first-rate: George Clooney continues to show what a great actor he his; Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, and Sydney Pollack give distinguished performances; and the other cast members nicely complement them. The atmospheric cinematography and music give Michael Clayton an additional dimension. Noteworthy scenes include Clooney and Wilkinson in an alley, a clinically executed murder, and the first part of the end credits. The ending is not altogether in tune with the rest of the movie, but it still works.
